
Orphie Sollom was born June 10, 1911 on the family farm near Reynolds, ND the daughter of Norwegian pioneers, Julius T. and Annie (Berg) Sollom. She attended rural school near Reynolds and Central High School in Grand Forks, ND. Following her education Orphie worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Smith. Orphie was united in marriage to William "Buzz" English on June 29, 1938 at the Rosendal Lutheran Church of Reynolds, ND. The couple made their home in Fargo where she worked as a dental assistant. She later worked as a retail clerk for Sears and J.C. Penney's. Orphie worked as a Claims Adjuster for Blue Cross and Blue Shield retiring in 1974. William passed away in 1994 and Orphie continued to make her home in Fargo until 2007 when she moved to Grafton.
