It is with great sadness we announce the death of Orville Akre, just a few days after his 94th birthday. He passed away on February 20th, 2013. Orv is survived by his sister, Dorothy Brunsvold-Salinas CA, Dorothy's children (Dianne, Rudy, Steve, Kim) and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Orv graduated from Fargo High School in 1938. He secured a job with Northwest Airlines, traveling the world and working in multiple locations, including Fargo, Seattle, Madison and the Philippines. In 1942 he married Dorothy Reiersgord who predeceased Orv. In 1943 he entered the Army and spent the bulk of his time in England, France and Germany. With his ability to quickly learn languages, he was of great assistance to the military during the war. After the war, he returned to Northwest Airlines and remained with them until he started his own travel business in Madison. In 1994, he returned to Fargo to care for his mother.
